🚧Infrastructure

Building for the Future:

As we look ahead to the future of Atlanta, it is essential to prioritize our community's needs through thoughtful planning and sustainable development. Affordable housing is a cornerstone of our vision, ensuring that all residents have access to safe and secure living conditions. We must also focus on enhancing our transportation systems, providing efficient routes that connect neighborhoods and improve accessibility.

Investment in infrastructure cannot be overlooked; reliable roads, public transit, and utilities are vital for a thriving community. Additionally, fostering inclusive economic growth will create opportunities for all residents, helping to bridge the gap and reduce inequality within our district.

Together, we can build a resilient future for Atlanta, where prosperity is shared, and every voice is heard in the pursuit of progress.

For too long, District 12 has been left behind when it comes to infrastructure. Cracked sidewalks, pothole-ridden roads, aging water systems, illegal dumping, and unreliable internet access are daily realities for too many of our neighbors. If we want real equity in Atlanta, we must start with the basics: safe streets, clean neighborhoods, and functional public systems.

As your City Council representative, Delvin will champion a bold infrastructure agenda focused on equity, resilience, and community investment.

Delvin’s Infrastructure Priorities for District 12

1. Fix Our Streets and Sidewalks

  • Launch a comprehensive street and sidewalk repair plan for District 12, starting with high-traffic pedestrian zones near schools, senior housing, and transit stops.

  • Install and repair ADA-compliant curb ramps, crosswalks, and pedestrian signals.

  • Prioritize street repaving, pothole repairs, and drainage upgrades in neighborhoods long overlooked by citywide investments.

    2. Modernize Water, Sewer, and Storm Drain Systems

  • Invest in the repair and replacement of aging water and sewer lines to reduce flooding and backups—especially in areas with frequent stormwater overflow.

  • Support green infrastructure solutions like rain gardens and permeable pavement to make the district more flood-resilient.

  • Advocate for equitable investment from Watershed Management to ensure South and Southwest Atlanta receive their fair share.

3. Eliminate Blight and Illegal Dumping

  • Strengthen code enforcement and fund targeted clean-up crews to address chronic dumping sites.

  • Establish a neighborhood “Rapid Response Blight Team” to remove debris and abandoned vehicles within days, not months.

  • Partner with neighborhood groups to create community-led beautification grants and anti-dumping education campaigns.

4. Invest in High-Speed Internet Access

  • Work to expand municipal broadband or public-private partnerships to bring fast, affordable internet to every household in District 12.

  • Make digital infrastructure a core utility—not a luxury—so that students, job seekers, and seniors can stay connected.

5. Build Resilient, Sustainable Infrastructure

  • Leverage federal and state funds to bring solar panels, energy-efficient lighting, and sustainable building materials to city-owned facilities.

  • Expand tree canopy programs and green space investment to combat heat and improve public health.

  • Push for resilience planning that prepares the district for climate-related challenges, from extreme heat to heavy storms.

Infrastructure isn’t glamorous—but it’s foundational. It's what determines whether our children can walk safely to school, whether our basement floods during a summer storm, and whether our block feels cared for or forgotten. I’m running because District 12 deserves more than patchwork fixes and empty promises. We deserve real investment in the places we call home—starting with the infrastructure that holds it all together.
